The Journal Gallery

“every day, at least once a day, I lay my thoughts in the gallery. in any direction of expression, I am free to roam” - Goldn.Light

When the idea came to me, it was simple, write every day for the year. The goal was to dedicate time to express myself and build self-trust. There was notI also created collages with each entry to mirror my words. As each day progressed, I realized the collages told more than one story. The beauty in this abstract composition gave birth to The Journal Gallery.

Writing and creating collages every day became a therapeutic ritual for me. I wondered what would drive my words each day and what picture they would bring to life. Some days it would be from running errands or a memory from the past that surfaced. Nothing was off limits, and I gave myself complete control to release it in a rant, a poem, or a message. I danced with creativity, and it showed through my words and the collages I created. I didn’t care about clean lines and forcing things to be profound. As the thoughts came, I let them flow, and mistakes were no longer an obstacle when I realized how I could expand. Surrendering to my rhythm was the best lesson I could learn from my collages. If a specific color or texture from a magazine caught my eye, I tore it out. If a word resonated, I crafted it into the collage. It was all about connecting with my inner guidance and trusting the process.

I finished Volume I on March 31, 2022. I was happy about the progress and noted things I wanted to improve. I started January and February pretty strong but lost my freedom in creating along the way. The Journal Gallery went from something fun to do to something that felt like a chore. I had to reevaluate my routine and revisit my intentions. When I started Volume II, I reminded myself that starting strong is good, but breath control will help you run the race. On June 30, 2022, I completed Volume II. Two volumes down, and I couldn't have been more proud! July 1, 2022, was the start of Volume III. A volume that will guide me deeper through silence while holding hands with self-trust. I’m not sure what to expect when I reach the doors of Volume IV, but I know I’ll be prepared when I get there.

The Journal Gallery is a journal project by Goldn.Light that showcases journal entries and collages created throughout 2022. It consists of four volumes, each housing three months out of the year. This project is about letting go of perfection and submitting to self-expression without judgment.

Volume I: Jan-Feb-Mar (completed)

Volume II: Apr-May-June (completed)

Volume III: Jul-Aug-Sept (completed)

Volume IV: Oct-Nov-Dec (completed)
